Accumen Operations Excellence Manager Slated to Present at the 2018 ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement

Katie Castree, Operations Excellence Manager at Accumen Inc. is slated to present “Lean Six Sigma in Healthcare Labs: Unclaimed Opportunity” at the 2018 ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement. This year’s event is scheduled for April 30-May 2,2018 in Seattle, Washington.

In keeping with this year’s conference theme of “The Innovation of You,” Ms. Castree will discuss how the healthcare laboratory is an unclaimed opportunity for better patient care. She will conduct an interactive session that shares lessons learned from the implementation of Lean Six Sigma in the healthcare laboratory, including real-life examples using case studies. With the multitude of challenges facing healthcare systems, the time is now to claim the opportunity that healthcare system labs can provide for quality improvement.

Since 2016, Castree has been an Operations Excellence Manager at Accumen Inc. and leads client organizations’ improvement projects in laboratory quality, service, and productivity. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois and a Master of Health Administration degree from Saint Louis University. She is an ASQ-Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and an AHRQ-Certified TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer. Prior to joining Accumen, she worked at Hospital Sisters Health System in Illinois for about four years and was a Senior Performance Improvement Specialist for the healthcare system’s medical group. Castree is an involved member of ASQ, frequently presenting at national conferences. At the local level, she serves the St. Louis Section of ASQ as an officer of the Leadership Committee as well as on the annual Conference Planning Committee.
