SAN DIEGO, November 7, 2016 – Accumen Inc. is proud to announce its affiliation with the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM). SABM’s mission is to improve health outcomes by advancing Patient Blood Management (PBM) practices, promoting innovative research, and providing quality professional and public education. This mission complements the mission and values of Accumen. Accumen strives to support a health system’s ability to provide integrated care and improve health outcomes by optimizing and modernizing laboratories. In addition, Accumen has a focus on implementing Comprehensive Patient Blood Management (cPBM) programs. At the center of Accumen’s cPBM program design is a patient-centered model that addresses blood administration, utilization and transfusion safety, as well as proactive strategies for anemia management and minimizing bleeding and blood loss designed to avoid “avoidable” transfusions and minimize complications by addressing modifiable risk factors. Overall, the affiliation between Accumen and SABM will aid in engaging health systems to accelerate application of the latest advancements in PBM.

SABM makes a positive impact on the healthcare industry by supporting research in innovative PBM strategies as well as providing education to medical professionals and the public. The affiliation will help to further Accumen’s goal to make positive changes in health systems by helping its client hospitals and health systems access the SABM resources.

Accumen’s comprehensive approach has achieved real results by helping multiple health systems reduce their blood use by as much as 40% while simultaneously achieving improved patient outcomes.

SABM’s PBM Awareness Week (PBMAW) will be observed November 7-11, 2016. This week is dedicated to educating patients and healthcare professionals about PBM and how it can improve patient health outcomes. Accumen will be promoting PBMAW from November 7-11 by providing materials to help hospital and health systems gain a better understanding of what Accumen does and the services available to help hospital and health systems provide better patient care. During PBM Awareness Week, SABM will be providing educational materials on their website and Accumen will be providing downloadable content and powerful insights on the company LinkedIn page.  For more information, visit https://www.sabm.org/node/22.
